I had a DeBlasio dream. He was getting his office set up and all the windows needed washing. It was a big job since they had been covered over for the whole Koch administration. DeBlasio hired interns to do the job, young women, teams of them who worked and worked, scrubbing away at years of film and dirt. I was the supervisor. The problem came when I wanted to decorate after the clean-up and there wasn’t enough money to do it.
